Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue is jumping from the pages of the magazine to your television screen this weekend, courtesy of Travel Channel. The cable network is set to air a five-part series called “SI: The Making of Swimsuit 2015” that goes behind the scenes of the shoots that make up the sports magazine’s most profitable issue. Travel Channel released a clip of what to expect and it looks more substantive than what one might expect.
UFC champion Ronda Rousey, who along with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, was one of the few athletes to appear in the sports magazine’s special issue, is heavily featured in one episode. Talking about her photographer Walter Iooss Jr., Rousey found similarities in how they both work.
“They were gonna have me on a bike and he was like, ‘You know what, look at these plants over here. Stand over here, let’s try this,’ Rousey explains. “The way that Walter shoots is a lot like how I fight, and it’s crazy. People always ask me, ‘What’s your game plan?’ … And I’m like, look, to be the best at your field you’re going to have to be able to change and adapt on a moment’s notice.”
The non-athlete models, including cover girl Hannah Davis, who is dating retired New York Yankees slugger Derek Jeter, is also featured in the five-part series.
The show is set to premiere the first two hour-long episodes on Sunday at 9 p.m.
